STRAAT Museum is one of Amsterdam’s most distinctive contemporary art destinations, dedicated entirely to street art and graffiti. Located in a vast industrial warehouse at the creative NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam Noord, the museum showcases large-scale works by internationally renowned artists alongside emerging talents from around the world. Rather than presenting street art as something temporary or hidden, STRAAT celebrates it as a powerful global art movement with stories to tell.
Inside a Former Shipbuilding Warehouse at NDSM Wharf
What makes STRAAT especially remarkable is its setting. The former shipbuilding warehouse provides an enormous indoor canvas where artists can create monumental works that would normally only exist outdoors and temporarily. Many pieces are produced on site, allowing visitors to see authentic street art techniques translated into museum-scale installations. Combined with the raw industrial atmosphere of the NDSM Wharf creative district, the location reinforces the connection between urban culture, experimentation and artistic freedom.
During a visit, guests can walk among towering murals, discover the ideas behind each artwork through artist stories and multimedia displays, and experience constantly changing exhibitions as new pieces are added over time. The museum’s spacious layout encourages slow exploration and photography, while the café and waterfront surroundings make it easy to extend your visit. STRAAT offers an inspiring and accessible experience for both dedicated street art fans and first-time visitors curious about one of today’s most dynamic art forms.
