NEMO’s Hidden Architecture & Sky-High Views
Did you know that NEMO’s iconic green shape is actually a clever architectural mask for the IJ-tunnel running directly beneath it? Architect Renzo Piano designed the building’s famous sloping hull to perfectly mirror the curve of the highway tunnel underground. Beyond its hidden engineering, the museum’s rooftop doubles as the highest public square in the Netherlands, offering interactive water features and a stunning 360° panorama of Amsterdam—completely free to visit!
